One house, many names, no one absorbed.
The connective tissue Philadelphia needs, and every city needs. We activate places across the city through adaptive reuse: spaces that already stand, given new purpose instead of torn down.
Here at the Hub for Humanity, we transform communities through Culture, Innovation, Technology, and Youth.
We know that South Philly is the heart and soul of the city, and we're the connective tissue.
Behind every activation is a bigger mission: meeting people where they are with a credential and a safe space to earn while they learn.
We do this by meeting the need, educating, and activating.
From a notepad to a patent.
Because they're already gold. They just didn't know it yet.
We build it once and share the blueprint, so the next neighborhood doesn't start from zero. No gatekeeping.
Most pipelines in this city run one direction.
We built one from a notepad to a patent.

And how are the children?
The Masai greeting, the measure of a society is its answer.
ICARE Academy was founded to house The Artists United curriculum online and in community spaces as enrichment programming for Philadelphia's rising youth.
In 2015, ICARE launched The Legacy Project, community-based events facilitated by scholars using art, cinematography, television production, drama, dance, and marketing. Structured educational, social, and recreational interventions; community-based supports and referrals; academic independence and character development.
The Center carries that lineage forward, one house, one calendar, one credential spine. The curriculum came first. The Center is the connective tissue that scales it.

Community events, scholar-facilitated, since 2015.
17+ community productions, art, cinematography, drama, dance.
Civic activation campaign, first-time voters registered, a decade running.
One house, one calendar, one credential spine, the connective tissue.
What the tissue connects
None of these are ours alone. All of them hold because they're connected.
Six systems. One spine.
Schools, credentials, employers, funders, family and reentry are six separate things to navigate: each with its own door, its own paperwork, its own waiting list. Here they share one calendar and one credential spine.
Illustrative model of the Center's design. Not a forecast.

The BIID

US & THEM
Live event production + artist showcase curriculum: performance, instrumentation, sound engineering, lighting, video production, photography, marketing, promotions.
AU Solutions

Every person is already gold.
Not potential gold. Gold.
The work is not to put value into a person. It is to help them find the value they are already carrying, and then hand them the tools, the credential and the room to turn it into income they own.
An organization that believes people arrive empty builds programs that fill them. An organization that believes people arrive gold builds pathways that release them.
Activating a place is social engineering.
Which places get attention, who is invited inside, and what happens there. A tool precise enough to engineer exclusion is precise enough to engineer inclusion; the variable is intent.
So we do not wait for a perfect building. We go to places that are ready for new life, bring partners and neighbors in, and leave a credential spine behind.
We are not teaching people to survive the built environment. We are helping them shape it.

From South Philly to every block in the city.
Built to last
We start with what already stands.
Adaptive reuse is where it starts: places across Philadelphia that already stand, given new purpose instead of being torn down, which keeps their materials, their history and the carbon already spent building them. That work rests on three commitments: sustainable places, a sustainable community and a model designed to keep both going.
Sustainable places
Adaptive reuse first: we bring new work into buildings and spaces that already stand, with partners who own and care for them, instead of waiting for something new to be built.
- Adaptive reuse
- Beautification
- Partner places
Sustainable community
Training, employers and the arts meet at every activation, so neighbors can go from learning a skill to a job to a business of their own.
- Workforce pathways
- Local jobs
- Arts and culture
Sustainable model
Partner-led programs, sponsors, members and volunteers keep the work moving without depending on any single source of support, and Trust OS keeps the record.
- Partner programs
- Members and volunteers
- Trust OS
More uses under roofs that already stand is how a block gains healthy density: more people, work and culture in each place, with no new footprint.
If your city is next.
If you are reading this from another city and recognized your own block in it, say so.
We are not franchising, and we are not coming to run it. What we can do is show the work — the spine, the calendar, the credential map, the entity structure, what it cost and what broke — to the people already doing it where you are.
We are activating places across Philadelphia now and documenting every step. Write now and you are on the list that sees the pattern first.
Every basecovered.
C.I.T.Y. stands for Culture, Innovation, Technology and Youth. These are the people who carry it. Each one covers a base of their own.
